The work of Grace Davies is currently on display in the Mud Matters gallery.

------

Grace was born in NJ and studied photography at F.I.T. and Geology at Hunter College. In 2001 she started taking studio classes in ceramics and sculpture and soon realized that working in three dimensions offered an inspirational new outlet for her creative expression.

Although she sculpts other shapes and works in various media, creating animal forms in clay is her passion and a natural outgrowth of her connection with nature. She loves the challenge of working life-size as much as possible, combining metal, plaster, wood, epoxy, resin, glass and concrete with the fired ceramics to structurally achieve the desired results.

In each new piece, Grace hopes to capture something of the personality of the individual animal. Her work is influenced by the paintings of John James Audubon and Walton Ford.

She is currently working on a project called “Extinction, Invasion, Survival” concerning our stewardship of the animal world. Her sculptures have been shown in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Hudson (NY), Cape May, and Puerto Rico.

Come spend an evening in the company of Michael Fullwood, an expert floral designer.

Michael has a unique skill of enhancing vases and vessels of any size or design with just the right combination of flowers and other greenery. He has designed many shows and large exhibitions, including floral design at The Clinton White House and in the lobby of the Metropolitan Museum.

The evening will utilize fresh, seasonal flowers and ceramic vases. You are welcome to bring your own or purchase a vase from our gallery.

Through lecture, demonstration and hands-on assistance, Michael will walk us through key considerations in floral design and display, particularly related to ceramic containers. Spend an enjoyable evening in our studio and go home with a beautiful floral arrangement just in time for Mother's Day.

Bring your favorite ceramic vase, between 5" and 9" in height. (Mugs or small teapots are perfect if you do not have a suitable sized vase.) There will be plenty of vases for purchase in our gallery as well.

The $90 includes all flowers and floral supplies. It will cost $25 for flowers for each additional vase or pot, as our flower supplies last.

Wine and refreshments will be served.
