Welcome to mudmatters.com, where my recently made ceramic art is on display. Working with clay brings joy and peace into my life. From the moment my hands pick up a piece of soft mud, I feel a deep connection to a process that has changed very little over centuries. The challenge of creating something with my hands brings me into the studio every day and the anticipation of opening a kiln to see the results of a firing is as exhilarating now as it was 6 years ago when I made my first pot. My life hasn't always included working with clay. But, as I look back at the things in life that have drawn my attention, ceramics has been a quiet passion for quite some time. I am one of those truly lucky people --- my work has always brought joy and satisfaction into my lives. Several years ago, I shifted from a career in public health when it no longer sparked my energy and I turned toward the more personal tasks of making pottery and teaching yoga. Now, I have the challenge and pleasure to attempt to make something beautiful out of mud. The entire process intrigues me...as it should with anything that matters. Yours in mud, Peggy Clarke |
